The Joy of Your Dreams
Hi friend,
It’s interesting the correlation between the joy in your life and your connection to what it is you truly want for yourself.
When I was younger, I enjoyed picking up copies of that yellow-bordered publication known as National Geographic. I was fascinated by the cover images and content that shared about faraway lands and exotic places I’d never been to. Today I am fascinated by Wanderlust and all the destinations covered on its pages.
Up until high school, I thought I might become a renowned photographer traveling the world, capturing its beauty. In tenth grade, I enrolled in a black-and-white photography class while living in Okinawa, Japan. It was the ideal segue for a girl who toted around a small camera as a kid and now found herself in a new, foreign place. Living there brought an excitement and curiosity for new cultures and languages that are still with me.
Last year I enrolled in a move abroad course and joined a group of badass women who all have the same dream—to move to a foreign country. After proclaiming my intent to move abroad in December, the joy and energy within me have been unlike anything I have felt before. I keep taking small action steps to show the Universe that I am all in with my dream, my goal, the life I want to create. I am pushing less and allowing myself to be pulled more by my true desires, and that feels oh-so-good.
It is incredible how I feel because I’m feeling my dream. I’m breathing it into existence with my consistent actions and unwavering commitment to see it through. I am persistent, like a predator stalking its prey. I will not let this one get away!
When you permit yourself to focus on one of your biggest dreams and align your actions with that dream, and feel it pulsing through your veins, it’s like the gift that keeps giving. The joy is lurking around every corner. I would even say it’s a life orgasm. (I may need to trademark that. 😉)
So I ask you, what is that big, audacious, bold dream that keeps tugging at your insides, wanting to be released? What is something that has been with you in some form since you were a child?
Our dreams may morph and change, but I feel the ones that our soul truly desires are always within us. And so I will officially soar into my dream (literally and figuratively as I hop onto a plane) before the end of this year allowing my love of cultures, languages, photography, and writing to merge in beautiful new ways. The little girl within is jumping up and down with immeasurable joy.
