You've Got to Care Less
You’ve got to care less.
Yep. You read that right. And I’ll tell you why. Caring less means caring more.
If you learn to care less about the external noise—the opinions, expectations, judgment, and negativity—you will be able to care more about yourself.
Caring more about you means:
staying in your lane and traveling further.
keeping yourself from becoming trapped in comparison mode.
spending more energy on what matters most to you.
Caring less about who and what doesn’t support you or your goals means caring more about the direction you want to move towards. It means caring about honoring and respecting yourself which means caring less when others don’t because you’ll give yourself permission to walk away.
When I started caring less about what bosses may think if I was honest in my feedback and opinions related to my job, I cared more about my integrity and values.
When I started caring less about what others would think of me when I went out alone, I started caring more about doing the things that make me happy.
When I started caring less about the fear (though honestly, this still isn’t easy, especially around up-leveling my business), the more I cared about creating memorable moments for myself. This includes solo travel and asking people to take my picture (which I did for the photo above).
In focusing more on what matters to me, moving through the fear, and living my potential, I care less about the external chatter. And that is powerful. Yes, it continues to be a work in progress, but I keep doing the work.
You can still be a caring, loving, giving person while caring more about what matters most to you, making your needs and dreams a priority, and listening to your heart and soul.
